ART FAIR ASIA FUKUOKA 2017

The 3rd edition of the first art fair in Fukuoka, ART FAIR ASIA / FUKUOKA 2017, will be held at Hotel Okura Fukuoka. Galleries from across Asia participate in this art fair, and it is expected to be one of the most interesting international art fair for the artists, museums, galleries, collectors and art professionals all over the world. Behind its background, there is a fact that it is a unique project that brings out the regional characteristics in Fukuoka with the cooperation of Fukuoka Asian Art Museum, which is the only museum in the world that collects Asian art systematically. In 2015, the year of the launch of this project, it recorded 2200 attendants with the participation of a total of 27 galleries and gained a great response. 37 galleries will participate this year.
For our second time participating in this art fair, MIZOE Art Gallery presents three artists, who are all from Kyushu.
First of all, Takahide KOMATSU, who was from Miyazaki and has been depicting butterflies and insects with the theme of the changes in ecosystem. He was well received at Art Fair Tokyo 2017, and also was elected by Lexus New Takumi Project in last year. The range of his success is increasing more and more. After the AFAF, from 16th of September, his solo exhibition will be held in MIZOE Art Gallery in Fukuoka.
Secondly, Nami SHIBATA, who had her first hometown solo exhibition in Fukuoka last year, and then she was nominated by Koji KINUTANI Prize Prize in this year. She has been pursuing and suggesting the new possibilities of painting by decomposing and recomposing the pictorial elements such as colors and lines.
Thirdly, Tomonori TOYOFUKU, he is one of the most famous sculptors in Japan, and was born in Fukuoka. There are several wood carving works exhibited in MIZOE Art Gallery as its treasure. And also in the gallery, there are some secondary good works, which are the specialty of MIZOE Art Gallery.
