We are pleased to announce that Mizoe Art Gallery is going to exhibit at Art Basel Hong Kong 2026 and be our fourth time to attend. We will display Tomonori TOYOFUKU’s sculptures this year to celebrate belated his 100th anniversary, which was last year.
This retrospective celebrates Tomonori Toyofuku’s mastery of form and his enduring contribution to modern sculpture. Tomonori Toyofuku was a Japanese sculptor renowned for his abstract mahogany and bronze works, pierced with egg-shaped motifs repeated in endless variations. His sculptures explore the interplay of solid and void, transforming simple holes into imaginative spatial expressions. Using traditional Japanese chisels, Toyofuku carved fluid, organic forms that evoke harmony and rhythm, often resembling landscapes of light and shadow. These works balance precision with spontaneity, reflecting his deep engagement with material and space. Toyofuku’s innovative approach has led to exhibitions at the Venice Biennale and major galleries across Europe. His works are held in prestigious collections including The Museum of Modern Art in New York, the National Museum of Modern Art, Tokyo, and the Peggy Guggenheim Collection in Venice.
We are going to display his most sophisticated artworks, which have recently been increasing in international appraisal. We hope you can enjoy those artworks at the venue where is the best place in the Asia.
