Shin Kamikawa

Numerous "forms" with a powerful presence appear in a dirt colored landscape. Depicted is where Kamikawa spent his childhood: his hometown, which has now completely changed. The immense scale of the coal industry at its peak of prosperity, a town covered in soot which bursts with the energy of the earth, and the life force of those that live there. This is what lay at the root of his sense of beauty. His series titled "THE WALL" was created upon reflecting on his hometown. Including works such as these, the world of Shin Kamikawa's artwork is almost overwhelmingly powerful.
