Zenzaburo kojima
1893 born in Nakacho, Fukuoka City.
1911 graduated from Fukuoka Prefectural Shuyukan junior high school.
1913 Went to Tokyo to become an artist.
1914 studied western-style painting in Tokyo, but later went back to Fukuoka due to illness.
1920 made his way back to Tokyo.
1925 traveled to Europe.
1927 set up his own studios in Cannes.
1928 returned to Japan.
1930 set up his studio in Yoyogi, Tokyo. Played a role in the establishment of the Dokuritsu Bijutsu Kyokai (Independant Art Association)
1936 moved his studio to Kokubunji, Tokyo.
As he moved his studio from Yoyogi to Kokubunji and then to Ogikubo, a change in his artistic style would follow, from that of landscapes to figures and flower arrangements.
1962 passed away at the age of 69.
Among the Japanese artists of modern western painting, he was known as an avid colorist painter. Moreover, while valuing the fundamentals of western painting, he has gained acclaim in the Asian art market as a perfector of orientalist oil painting.
