In this third exhibition, a single motif is duplicated multiple times under the theme of "Rumination”. The artist repeatedly depicts the same motifs but transforms each copy to prevent his work from being flat and mundane, as well as in anticipation of the new possibilities that could be created. The artworks in the exhibition show no persistent attachment to the works that came before, but rather the progress of an artist who is dedicated to his craft.
The artist has often depicted close friends and plants in past works but has newly added “images that look like people" as one of his motifs, in which he uses images that were automatically generated by AI. We will be exhibiting several large-scale paintings that are over size 100, and there will be live painting events at the gallery.
We hope that you will ruminate on the view that the artist savored deeply.

10:00am-6:00pm (Open every day during the event)
Venue: MIZOE ART GALLERY TOKYO

We will be holding an exhibition in commemoration of Ryo Hirano, “painter of the soul”, on the 30th anniversary of his death. The exhibition will showcase a wide range of his works, from the wax paintings that were first conceived when the artist used a candle to light his work while painting, to the sketches of people and landscapes from his frequent trips abroad, as well as the figurative and abstract oil paintings from the last few years of his life.
The gaze of this exceptional painter, who lived through such turbulent times and yet never ceased the search for light in darkness, conveys compassion for human existence.
We will be awaiting your visit to our gallery.

This exhibition will feature paintings that depict images evoked by stories and their backgrounds.
So far, Nami Shibata's paintings have been based on the textural qualities of oil paint and brushstrokes, the material strangeness of color tones, and the interesting formations that they create. The subjects of her portraits are generic figures from theater plays such as actors, in an attempt to “paint nothing” by drawing up a fiction.
On the other hand, Shibata writes stories in order to “depict something”. It is in these stories that she comments on history, society, culture, politics, beliefs, conflicts and the tragedies that they produce, and herself.
In the face of the chaos of the real world, she says that she is gradually merging her two identities as a "painter" and a "writer".
The artworks in "Story Within a Story" depicts various scenes, timelines, and fragments of memory cut out of a story, as illusions. Please come and see the new endeavors of an artist, Nami Shibata.

"There is soil at everyone's feet. What is true happiness in modern times in which we cannot recognize this obvious fact? I would like to express the importance of feeling the origin of our life through the thick surface by repeated brushstrokes of oil paint," said Kenpei YUNDE. This is the second solo exhibition of YUNDE since the corona outbreak started. YUNDE completely gave himself over painting during the time which consolidated his passion and belief for painting. As usual, or more thoroughly, more than 50 layers of paint were applied to create paintings each of which takes him one year. Many people are fascinated by the small happiness painted on them.
We would like you to have a look at the painter's way of living. We are waiting for your visit to our gallery. Kazunobu Abe, Mizoe Art Gallery

Mizoe Art Gallery aimed to introduce mid-career artists (who have continued artistic activity and exhibition for long years) and their artworks which should be appreciated again. To achieve it, we will display the artworks of Eriko FUJISAWA who creates paintings under the theme of lines and shapes transforming them into the harmony of hue, and Atsushi HOSOI who travels between illusion and reality by shaping the atmosphere and existence of invisible things as the duo exhibition focusing on their new artworks.

Did you see Gyoji Nomiyama Exhibition After 100 Years that was held at Taichi Sakaiya Memorial Aizumi Art Museum of Tokyo University of the Arts at the beginning of this year? A number of artworks which were mostly painted in this one year have overflowing energy and freshness like spring. The vivid colors and energetic free brushstrokes always make me feel the existence of life in his paintings.
"I want to express something that firmly settles in me." Gyoji NOMIYAMA keeps on painting pursuing something he still cannot attain.
This exhibition will show his artworks of each period including the postwar years, the time he stayed in Europe, and the years after he returned to Japan. You will grasp the current activity of Gyoji NOMIYAMA who still continues to evolve after turning 101 years old. We are waiting for your visit.

Koji WATANABE stayed in Italy for 24 years. For most of the years, he created artworks living by the Lake Como near the border of Switzerland. I dreamily imagine how great the environment was. Currently, he works in a quiet old Japanese-style house in Karatsu as his studio which is a quiet place as well. The bronze artworks created by WATANABE are suggestive and mysterious like palaces and temples in the stories of Western countries.
"The theme is stability in an unstable society," the artist says. Life abroad for many years would not have been as graceful experience as we think.
We will exhibit approximately 20 artworks focusing on the artworks created in Italy. Please feel the wind of Italy brought by the artworks of Koji WATANABE.
