Takashi YATOJI works on creative activity based in Saga. He has been known as an up-and-coming artist since his earlier age in the art scene of Kyushu. At his age of 22, he surprised people around him by winning the grand prize at Eiten (Tagawa Museum of Art) as the youngest. In the same year, he got attention when he was accepted into MCAGP Mitsubishi Corporation Art Gate Program and selected as a scholarship student. Since then, he has been active in various fields.
His style changed from the earlier artworks characterized by the composition of colorful and complicated lines and surfaces. The number of colors, elements such as lines, and areas were minimized to get to the motifs more accurately. He keeps on discovering the possibility of two-dimensional expression by painting the same motifs with different approaches many times.
"A painting cannot be finished without intention. It gradually gets out of control. I think the important thing is to communicate with painting." The artist facing his painting seriously holds the first solo exhibition in Tokyo at the age of 30. We hope his art breathes new life into society tired of the epidemic. Please have a look at Now of the artist who will show further evolution and transition.
