February 1st (sat) - February 16th (sun), 2025
Open every day during the exhibition period 10am-6pm
Venue: Mizoe Art Gallery, Tokyo

From 2019 to 2022, Takeshi Wei worked on, and completed, a ceiling painting for the Saieizan Kozan Temple, located deep in the mountains of Bungo Takada. His new work, a large folding screen entitled “Under the Cherry Blossom Tree,” which he suspended all other activities to create, evokes the sense of all things being in a constant state of flux. When asked if this is a culmination of his artistic career, he says it is, in fact, a new departure point. In addition to sculptures made from driftwood and scrap wood, his recent wild-fired ceramic works, created in Itoshima, remind viewers of the strength that resides in ordinary objects that might otherwise be overlooked. We invite you to visit the exhibition, which will be his first in seven years, to witness the new world of Takeshi Wei.
