“The Happiness that Exists There” Kenpei YUNDE exhibition
2026/05/16
2026/05/31
TOKYO
There are two things that humans cannot make.
The one is life, the other one is soil.
If there was no soil, there would be no life on Earth.
I feel appeal the thoughts of the Jomon people. They lived with nature and lived peacefully without fighting for more than ten thousand years on the Earth.
They created on soil but I do so on canvas.
I believe that they must have also been very aware of the change of seasons.
I repeat colours on canvas that are influenced by seasons. Eventually, I can make colours which are as if Jomon gene inside of me awakes.
What was the happiness of the Jomon people, who admired nature, desired?
What should we admire?
I’d like to express the happiness that exists there and is taken for granted.
“At the footstep of all is soil, which is why I paint from the soil”
