Takahide KOMATSU Exhibition
2026/05/23
2026/06/07
FUKUOKA
It is incredibly impressive that he’s making a great leap these days. Since the pandemic, he has done documentary filmmaking focusing on the great people of his hometown of Miyazaki, a whisky label project which consists of 365 hand-painted artworks* and had worked as a producer of an art festival in Miyazaki and so on. His recent activity features a great deal of variation.
His expressions as an artist are also growing.
Colourful butterflies and insects dancing against a glittering Rimpa style background – his signature style- small animals living quietly in the grass and by the water, fish swimming leisurely in a clear stream, a series of “Carbonisation”and”Oxidation” which he expressed in abstract the passage of time in nature. Furthermore, installations of objects of butterflies and small animals. The roots of his all artworks are an unchangeable local patriotism for the familiar satoyama (undeveloped woodland) in Miyazaki.
He will continue to make a great impression on us by creating artworks for years to come.
I hope you can enjoy his current artworks at this exhibition.
