1892, Heihachiro Fukuda was born in Oita city. He used to study in Kyoto City University of Arts, and after that Fukuda was working and being active in Kyoto in his rest life. 1961, he received the Order of Culture, which is a Japanese order award to the person for contributions to Japan’s art, science, literature,…
At the beginning of his career, Fukuda was influenced by SONG・YUAN-period Chinese-style to create realistic paintings of flowers and birds. Later he changed his style to be more abstract design and bold composition. It pioneered a new expression to the world of traditional Japanese painting. In Fukuda’s career, the most significant theme is 「Water」. And one of his most important works is called 「漣/Ripple」, which is collected by Artrip Museum (planning) in Osaka. The painting depicts the water surface of the pattern reflected in the pond surface, and because of too bold and innovative style, it called a topic at that moment. His work is also a part of collection of the National Museum of Modern Art, Tokyo & Kyoto.
