His imagined landscape appears like the world of a fairy tale at a glance although the sorrow of human being and melancholic elements are hidden. [Tokyo] The 35th Anniversary of the Death Rey CAMOY Exhibition. November 14th (Sat) – November 29th (Sun), 2020

The 35th Anniversary of the Death
Rey CAMOY Exhibition

November 14th (Sat) – November 29th (Sun), 2020
10am – 6pm *Open every day during the exhibition.

Rey Camoy who ended his life at the age of 57 thirty five years ago. He faced themes that are universal among people including life and death, getting old, loneliness, and love. The pieces of his artworks the style of which seems to gouge out inside of objects still do not stop attracting many people across generations.
What did the painter look at and wanted to tell us who flamboyantly run through his life while struggling between despair and hope?
We hope this exhibition consisting of 15 works becomes an opportunity to face Rey Camoy, the lone painter again.
We are waiting for your visits to our gallery.

Rey CAMOY: Born in Kanazawa, Ishikawa in 1928. (Legally domiciled in Nagasaki.) Graduated from Kanazawa College of Art. Merit Award in the Showakai Exhibition. Minister of Education Award in the Niki Exhibition. The 12th Yasui Award. A member of Nikikai. Solo Exhibition in the United States. Died in Kobe in 1985.

News of opening the new annex from Saturday October 17th 2020〈Exhibition commemorating Open after renovation〉

〈Exhibition commemorating Open after renovation〉
New annex “Collection Exhibition” Saturday October 17th - Monday November 23th
Main building “Selection Exhibition” Saturday October 17th - Sunday November 1st

Rey Camoy "Church" / Genichiro INOKUMA "EXPRESS WAY Q"

It has been 12 years since our gallery was opened at the current place in 2008. We are profoundly grateful for your patronage and support.
This time, we opened a new gallery next to the current gallery to expand the scale. We will work harder for holding more fascinating exhibitions, discovering talented artists, and introducing various artworks in the two different spaces.
In the exhibition commemorating the opening, we introduce artworks reflecting two policies of our activity. The first is “Collection”. We collect great works around the world to make a place in which people seeking art can meet works at any time. The other is “Selection”. Finding great artists is essential for growth of a gallery. We exhibit the works of the artists whom we selected, and whom we are walking together with.
The thing we cherish in handling art is that they are “things that remain through ages”. We offer universal values which does not depend on fashion and market, and which move people in any generation. (Mizoe Art Gallery, Kazunobu Abe)

ambivalence: Kota NAKAMURA exhibition
Nov. 7th(Sat) - 23th(Mon), 2020

Venue: MIZOE ART GALLERY FUKUOKA
*The artist will be present at the gallery on 7,8,21,22,23 November, 2020.
*Talking event from 2pm on 7,22 November, 2020.

Ambivalence - this exhibition title implies the world expressed in Kota Nakamura's artworks. Beauty and ugliness, life and death, for example.
That was what caused the frisson when I saw his work for the first time. The beauty of a moment when a bullet pierces matter. A transient and also beautiful shape drawn by time and trajectory that should be an action of taking a life away. A contradiction that it is made by the gentle-mannered and calm person.
His history is also interesting as he has a grandfather who is a Western-style painter, Takuji Nakamura, and he learned contemporary art in New York in early time where he experienced the simultaneous terrorist attack.
I want to know more deeply about this artist, I want to see what kind of works and exhibition space he creates. Such thoughts urged me to this solo exhibition.
This is his first solo exhibition in Fukuoka. Please look forward to it.(Kazunobu Abe : MIZOE ART GALLERY)

[Fukuoka]“FORM” Nami SHIBATA Exhibition September 12nd (Sat) - September 27th (Sun), 2020

“FORM” Nami SHIBATA Exhibition
Sept. 12nd Sat - Sept. 27th Sun, 2020

When I paint, my attention focuses on superficial elements such as painterly shape and silhouette of motifs. The brush moves without intention to paint particular objects. Paint piles up on a canvas without anything to claim.

I concentrate on fussing over forms which is a meaningless action. I spend energy on it. I consider trying to choose this way or that ( maybe I am just playing pretending to think). I become happy or hate the shape depending on the result from the function and motion of the body.

The images I saw one day somewhere transform on the canvas. They may have appeared in my dream, maybe someone I saw yesterday.

To concentrate on forms seems to be similar to fussing over the way of breathing. In what way, how much I inhale and exhale, I am just repeating it.

About: This long film is the story of a talented painter from Nara prefecture.
Kenpei YUNDE painted all the works in the film and we can see plenty of his works.

Kenpei YUNDE is an artist to the core. I thought like this when I heard his comment for my phone-call.
he said “I can’t go out anywhere because of Corona, so I just engage in painting in the atelier. I finished much more works.”
His concepts, “From the footing, from the soil”, expresses in the specific painting style of repeating the process of glazing and scraping more than 50 layers through one year.
He says “Since this world’s value is dramatically changing, I want everyone to enjoy and feel my works. All of them have the voice of soil and put down the roots in the earth.
This is the best time for Kenpei YUNDE’s exhibition. We really look forward to seeing you in our gallery. – Kazunobu Abe, Mizoe Art Gallery
